A subluxation is a partial dislocation of a body part's joint. For instance, the spine can have a misalignment, causing small amounts of pressure to build up on the vertebra. This specific type of subluxation is called vertebral subluxation and is commonly known to cause many forms of back pain.
Chiropractors can feel the misalignments, by gently pressing on the joints to see if any joints need adjusting. Once the misalignments are found they can then be realigned into their natural and original position.
Spinal misalignments which we call Subluxations can happen in children also. By correcting subluxations at an early age, before the body has begun to function with impaired capability, damaging effects can be prevented. Many people who have come into a chiropractor’s office for the first time as adults would have had far greater potential for regaining their health had they received regular chiropractic care as a child.
